The city of Beaufort, Sc is governed by a five member city council under the council-manager form of government.
Council members serve on staggered four-year terms.
The current mayor is Billy Keyserling. In October 2007, voters approved a $15 million bond referendum that will allow the city to construct a new city hall and other municipal buildings at the intersection of Boundary Street and Ribaut Road.
The City provides police, fire, sanitation, recycling, parks, events management, planning, zoning, building codes, and downtown parking as some of its services.
